Oval Park, Bronx NY, June 2014, southwest end, showing the Recreation Center, athletic field, 400-meter track, and (right) a piece of one of the many playgrounds, Oval Park was created in 1934-37 by the New Deal Works Progress Administration, one of many WPA projects in the Bronx. The Recreation Center was built from granite quarried from the construction site and cut by WPA stonecutters. Several major renovations to the park and the building took place between 1996 and 2013.
